Johannesburg - The two-year-old son of Afrikaans singer Dirk de Zinger has died, it was reported on Thursday.
The life support machines keeping Dirkie alive in a Pretoria hospital following a car crash on Tuesday were switched off on Wednesday, after he was declared brain dead, Beeld reported.
De Zinger's car reportedly hit a tree when he tried to avoid colliding with a bakkie which had skipped a stop sign near Rietfontein.
The child, who was in a car seat at the back of the vehicle, sustained head injuries.
De Zinger's wife Melissa's back was injured. Lieutenant Linda Jerling told the newspaper charges of culpable homicide and reckless driving were being investigated.
De Zinger is a member of the singing duo Dirk and Marlouise.
