Cairo - Angry Egyptians in a north-western town set a military building on fire after two residents were killed in clashes with soldiers, the state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The clashes started on Tuesday night when army forces tried to remove protesters blocking a highway in the town of Sallum near Egypt's border with Libya to protest taxes on trucks used for cross-border trade, the report said.
Three civilians were injured in the violence, it added.
Egypt has witnessed turmoil in several areas since a popular uprising forced former president Hosny Mubarak to resign in February 2011.
