Burkina Faso to Join 2012 Cup of Nations
The sub-organising committee of the Africa Cup of Nations under the leadership of CAF President Issa Hayatou met on Friday, October 28 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Below are decisions taken:
1-The committee expressed satisfaction with the project report on preparations regarding the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations. This follows the visit by the CAF Inspection team to Libreville, Franceville, Bata and Malabo in the areas of Infrastructure, Transportation, Accommodation Training pitches and other aspects related to the final tournament.
2- The committee also reviewed the progress report on the Official draw scheduled for October 29 at the Sipopo Conference Palace in Malabo at 7.00 PM local time. The committee expressed confidence with the level of preparations and remains optimistic of a successful event.
3-On the protest filed by the Namibia Football Association (NFA) against the Burkina Faso over the eligibility of Herve Zengue, the CAN Orange 2012 Bureau rejected the protest since it did not comply with Article 37.1 of CAN Orange 2012 regulations which says "The protest must be preceded by a nominal and motivated protest formulated before the match on the proper form of the match by the captain of the protesting team and communicated to the captain of the opposing team who will countersign it ". Hence Burkina Faso is confirmed to take place at the next Orange African Cup of Nations in 2012
4-The CAF delegation made up of CAF President Issa Hayatou, 2nd Vice President Almamy Kabele Camara and Secretary General, Hicham El Amrani paid a courtesy call on Equatorial Guinea President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo to discuss issues relating to the hosting of next year's tournament.
5-Presidents of the two countries co-hosting the tournament, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo (Equatorial Guinea) and Ali Bongo Ondimba (Gabon) have confirmed their attendance at the official draw of the 2012 Orange Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for October 29 at the Sipopo Conference Palace in Malabo.
