The Atumpan drums are royal drums from Ghana. Always played in pairs, these booming bass drums are still used to communicate messages from the residence of the chief to his community today. In Ghana the Atumpan are considered the original Talking Drums. Atumpan are also part of the Fontomfrom Ensemble of the Ashanti.
